"An ode to Het Bossche Broek"
"A wintery ode to Het Bossche Broek Den Bosch. Every day with sunrise and sunset I walk my dog Fado in Het Bossche Broek, a nature reserve, right next to the old city walls of 's-Hertogenbosch. There's not a day when this stretch of grassland doesn't inspire me. The beautiful nature reserve is a place where special encounters take place every day; between hikers, bikers, dogs & dog owners, birdwatchers, deer, beavers and a wide variety of rare birds. This piece of nature has a rich history; in the Middle Ages, it was a natural swamp that protected the city from enemies; the soil was so muddy that armies sank into it. Recently 's-Hertogenbosch sold the land to the Dutch Forestry Commission (Staatsbosbeheer) to ensure its protection. Now, Staatsbosbeheer is gradually restoring it to its natural marshy state. So, here's an ode to this beautiful piece of nature that embraces 's-Hertogenbosch, it’s people and animals!".
