“The Sacred Hollow”

“I’m from a small town in Noord-Brabant called Handel, which has an origin dating back about 800 years and was founded by the Teutonic Order. Over time, it became a place of pilgrimage, and there’s an interesting reason for that. The Maria Tree in Handel is a legendary, centuries-old oak that plays a central role in the village’s religious history. Tradition says a statue of the Virgin Mary was once found inside the tree. This miraculous discovery led to the construction of a chapel in the 13th century, and the tree has since attracted pilgrims seeking blessings”.
